“Food can bring people together in way nothing else could” – Yotam Ottolenghi
Flour House, a popular Italian eatery in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo, has customers coming back every week for their celebrated Meter Monday. Each Monday, Flour House offers customers the option of a half meter or meter length pizza with multiple toppings. The half meter serves four people with the option of three tastings, while the meter serves eight and has six tastings. At $28 for a half meter and $50 for the meter, this deal is perfect for those looking to eat well at a reasonable price. In a college town, Flour House has created a smart way for students to enjoy multiple gourmet tastings without breaking the bank.
Flour House is well known throughout the San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly community and is often crowded. Guests must anticipate a wait on popular nights like Meter Monday due to Flour House’s no reservation policy. However, this doesn’t deter customers, as Flour House is almost always lively with groups of students or families coming into to enjoy the restaurant’s house-made pizza and pastas. Cal Poly student, Ashley Gonzales, raves about Meter Monday and how it makes for great group dinners. “Flour House offers a great environment to get together with your friends and enjoy good food”. The restaurant’s ambiance is warm with lively conversation all around.
Flour House prides themselves in their authentic making of Pizza Napoletana with their priced Stefano Ferrara Oven. The restaurant’s website boasts of this handmade oven from Naples, Italy. The Meter Monday menu offers 14 different tastings for guests to choose from. Each are unique and influenced by the restaurant owners’ inspirations from Italy. Second year, Billie Hooven said, “Their pizza is so authentic and delicious. I love it!”

I took this at Flour House on January 21, 2019.
